In-depth Slide Diver Rigging
By
Jay Torke

Slide Divers are a great device to target bonus fish up high while fishing deep for mid-summer Kings. We add some specific components that really increase our catch ratio. First, we never run Slide Divers on anything but 30 lb. Power Pro, Moss Green. The clear surgical tubing (now packaged standard with Slide Divers) helps prevent the line from slipping while using Power Pro. The clear tubing must only be ¼ of the way up on the Slide Diver arm, just enough to slide a pinch point piece of tubing to secure the clear surgical tubing in place.

Next, run the Power Pro through the Slide Diver per the instructions on the back of the package. We get really detailed in this next part. Once the Power Pro is through the entire diver, slip an 8mm bead on the Power Pro and tie a braided clinch knot to a Coastlock ball-bearing snap swivel. Now, tie a four foot leader of Ande 20-30 lb. mono to a Duolock snap on one end and a Coastlock ball-bearing snap swivel to the other. Finally, attach the Duolock snap to the Coastlock snap swivel on the Power Pro and you're ready to go. This refinement gives spoons extra kick and better freedom of movement. In addition, this combination really helps line twist when fishing flashers.

The Power Pro Slide Diver setup is an excellent weapon for many reasons; however, two are really important. First, the 30 lb. Power Pro is extremely durable. Second, the Power Pro has little stretch and transmits great action to the trailing baits. Did I mention that we never run Slide Divers on anything but Power Pro?
