Marine Area 9 (Admirality Inlet)

A good opening in Area 9 for fin-clipped Coho and Chinook. The most productive anglers were fishing the bottom 10 to 20 feet of water which is a typical winter blackmouth fishery. Some of the better places to fish were mid-channel bank in Pt Townsend and Possession Bar at the southeast side of Whidbey Island. Always fish in the same direction as the tidal flow. Good lures were the Silver Horde Coho Killer and the Tailwagger Spoons.

Marine Area 10

Area 10 opened January 1st for fin-clipped Chinook and Coho only. Not many boats have been out, but those out there did fairly good. The bigger Blackmouth caught were 6-8 lbs. There were a lot of small shakers in the area and many seals and sea lions. Anglers lost a lot of hooked fish to seals and sea lions. The hot lure was the Silver Horde Coho Killer in various green, purple and glo colors.
