“North Olympic Flounder Pounder” derby to be held this Saturday, June 8th in MA6

There will be a flounder / flatfish (anything other than Pacific Halibut) derby this Saturday, June 8th in Port Angeles, WA.

Any legally caught Flounder, Sole, Sanddab, Turbot or other flatfish (Excluding Pacific Halibut) will qualify for weigh-in.

CASH Prizes for the 5 heaviest fish
1st – $3000
2nd – $1000
3rd – $750
4th – $500
5th – $250

$30 entry fee.

Fishing

All fishing must be done from a watercraft- boats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, float tubes etc are all legal. No fishing from shore.

Anglers may launch from anywhere but must fish in Marine Area 6 and must travel by water to the weigh station.

Fishing begins at 5:14AM (Dawn) and is enforced by the honor system.

Anglers are discouraged from making land before weigh in. This will help reduce claims of foul play and cheating.

Body of Water

Participants must fish in Marine Area 6 for the event. Fishing must be legal and in public waters only. Participants may fish in any water within MA6 that is open to public fishing.
